GREG PLACHTA - ARTIST’S STATEMENT

In his newest photographs, Greg Plachta aims to capture the sensual world of flowers in extreme closeup. Some of his images are brilliantly colored, almost psychedelic in their vibrancy; others are monochromatic, subtle and elegant, focusing on the structure and form of the plants.  Whether in color or black and white, the photographs are luminous; their ethereal qualities belie the sophisticated technical skill underpinning the images.  Plachta received his degree from the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California.
